Method # 5 Capturing the Moment

Flickr is a site that allows me to view all sorts of wonderful pictures. I have been on the site before to view pictures others and it is amazing to see pictures that people post. Flickr is a online photo sharing site. It is neat how you can post blogs and have discussion topics and it is like a world of photography for people to talk about the things they love doing. It is good for libraries because since Flickr is a big online community of pictures, we could go on there and share photos with others of special a presentation or other special events.

Method #4 Make life “really simple” with RSS and newsreaders

RSS reader system seems like it is a very helpful system to use if a person wants to stay caught up with the latest news without having to waste so much time. I am currently not a user of RSS but it if I was I think it would be very helpful as to picking out the certain topics that I would like to know information about instead of going to a news website and spending time trying to upload it then spending more time trying to search for the topic that I am interested in. RSS is a very easy and "really simple" way to stay updated on current information and news.

Method #3 Cloud Computing

As a librarian Cloud Computing is something that is used every day in the library. We have online services such as our tigercat online catalog. Users can search for online ebooks or books in our online catalog. Cloud Computing allows users to store files on a hosted service over the Internet. Being able to store files such as excel documents along with word documents and being able to bring them up on another computer. Using the storage that is available helps the library to keep up with the current and old files. Storing videos and pictures is something that is also along with the cloud computing. Storing data such as emails and allows users to access their email from another computer no matter where a person is. Cloud Computing is something that is used every day and being able to take advantage of the storage and services all provided by internet connection. Places like Google or Wiki are wonderful examples of this. A user can post a document onto a website, and this allows the document to be viewed by my millions of users of the cloud. Cloud Computing is something that Libraries can use in the daily functions. This feature can help with the enhancement of services being offered to library users making resources more accessible at the click of a mouse.

Method # 1 & 2 Web 2.0 and Library 2.0

Library 2.0 allows librarians to continue providing library services to meet the needs of library patrons by utilizing the technologies through blogs, wikis, social net-working, and videos sharing.

This software is user-friendly and invites users to share information while learning new technology to help create and organize information. Library 2.0 technology will keep you knowledgeable on the latest technology.

Certain web software may have been blocked from our campus due to security issues regarding student’s information being kept private.
